    Your NBX account
    is blocked?

NBX publishes the objective criteria on which it refuses, restricts or terminates access — not a general discretion, an actual list. That means you can check your own case against it before you write anything.

The account exists and nothing executes.

    NBXALERT

    Verification incomplete

Transactions cannot be executed until verification is complete.

    What it means

NBX states it may restrict or refuse to establish a relationship or to execute transactions until verification is completed.

    What NBX requires

The verification, completed rather than partially answered.

    Your first step

Treat an incomplete onboarding as the first criterion on the published list. It is the most common and the most fixable.

Can't find your case? Click 'Analyze my case' — we'll review the wording together.

    The criteria NBX publishes

These are stated as objective criteria in its terms rather than as examples, which is why they can be worked through one by one.

    01

Onboarding or identity verification cannot be completed

The first criterion, and the one that covers most cases. NBX states it may restrict or refuse to establish a relationship or execute transactions until verification is completed.

    Passport / ID document
    Selfie with document
    Proof of address
    Source of funds
    02

Required information is missing, inconsistent or unreliable

NBX names all three conditions separately. Inconsistent information is treated as its own problem, not merely as incomplete information.

    03

Beneficial ownership or control cannot be established

Where NBX cannot satisfactorily establish who owns or controls the account, that alone meets a published criterion.

    04

    Ongoing monitoring cannot be fulfilled

NBX states that where ongoing monitoring cannot be fulfilled it may discontinue the relationship, as required by law — a duty rather than a preference.

    05

A withdrawal condition that is not about the account

NBX states withdrawals are permitted subject to its platform terms, blockchain and network conditions, travel-rule requirements, and fraud and anti-money-laundering checks.

NBX also states that as part of its know-your-customer processes it will request information from a customer throughout the business relationship — not only at onboarding. A request years into an account is the published norm here rather than a signal.

5 things that will make the situation worse

    01

    Do not leave onboarding half-finished

NBX states it may restrict or refuse to execute transactions until verification is completed, and incomplete onboarding is the first published criterion.

    02

Do not send documents that disagree with each other

Inconsistent and unreliable information are named as grounds in their own right, separately from missing information.

    03

Do not avoid the ownership question

Where beneficial ownership or control cannot be satisfactorily established, that alone meets a published criterion for refusal, restriction or termination.

    04

Do not treat a routine information request as an accusation

NBX states it will request information throughout the business relationship as part of its KYC processes.

    05

Do not pay anyone to clear a travel-rule or AML check

Both are named as conditions on a withdrawal in NBX's own terms, and neither has a third-party route around it.

    “

NBX may refuse, restrict or terminate access where one or more of the following objective criteria are met: onboarding or identity verification cannot be completed, required AML/KYC information is missing, inconsistent or unreliable, beneficial ownership or control cannot be satisfactorily established.

What to check first on NBX

    1

    Work through the published criteria

Onboarding incomplete, information missing or inconsistent, ownership unestablished, monitoring unfulfillable. Four checks, in order.

    2

Reconcile the information NBX already holds

Inconsistent and unreliable information are named separately from missing information.

    3

    Answer the ownership question properly

Beneficial ownership and control, and politically exposed person status, are explicit obligations in the terms.

    4

    Check which withdrawal condition applies

Platform terms, network conditions, travel-rule requirements and fraud or AML checks are four different causes with one appearance.

What NBX may ask you for

The terms describe obligations rather than a document list, and the obligations are unusually specific about what the information is for.

    Accurate and complete identity information

The customer agrees to provide what NBX requests to verify their identity.

    Beneficial ownership information

Named as its own purpose in the terms, alongside identity verification.

    Politically exposed person status

Determining it is one of the stated purposes of the information NBX collects.

The purpose and intended nature of the relationship

NBX states the customer agrees to provide information for it to understand this — a question about intent rather than identity.

    Whatever ongoing monitoring requires

NBX states it will request information throughout the business relationship, not only at the start.

NBX publishes criteria rather than timeframes. There is no stated review period for a restricted account, and this page does not manufacture one — the useful thing here is the list, not a clock.

    What we actually do

Test the case against the published criteria

It is a short list, and knowing which item you are under changes the entire response.

    Reconcile the record

Inconsistency between truthful documents is its own ground here, and it usually takes reconstruction to spot.

Prepare the ownership and purpose answers

Both are explicit obligations, and both are answered in writing rather than with a document.

    Keep the ongoing requests answered

Monitoring that cannot be fulfilled is a published ground for discontinuing the relationship.

Say when a criterion is met

Where the published list plainly covers the situation, we would rather tell you than argue against a term the platform wrote down.
